Z_GIS staff contributes to IPCC Report

On March 31st, 2014 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) launched its 5th Assessment Report (AR5) of the working group 2, which focuses on Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability. This report considers the vulnerability and exposure of human and natural systems, the observed impacts and future risks of climate change, and the potential for and limits to adaptation. The chapters of the report assess risks and opportunities for societies, economies, and ecosystems around the world.

Z_GIS staff specifically contributed to the report through the involvement in the review process as well as the citation of original Z_GIS research in different chapters of the report. An additional contribution has been the work in the past MOVE project where the developed MOVE risk and vulnerability framework contributed to the adapted IPCC definition of key terminologies. The current IPCC report is an important conceptual as well as methodological compilation of the current knowledge and will guide future work in climate change related projects @ Z_GIS.
